5 New Years Resolutions That Will Improve Your Real Estate Business in 2017

Posted by Carrington Real Estate Services on December 29, 2016 at 1:17 PM

The new year has arrived and if you are like most agents, you are already making plans for 2017 to be your best year yet in the real estate business. The best way to make sure that those aspirations become a reality over the course of the next 12 months is for you to commit to making some changes that will improve your real estate business this year.

While many of your friends and family might laugh at the idea of a New Year’s Resolution, just about everyone makes one at some point over the first few weeks of January. And in order to make sure that your resolution ends up contributing to your bottom line, we put together a list of five ideas that will dramatically improve your real estate business in 2017.

One of the easiest ways to have a big impact on your business right from day one this year is to commit to getting yourself out of bed a little bit earlier each and every day. Having an extra hour or two every morning will make you feel absolutely invincible in terms of getting things done around the office.

If you can’t quite force yourself to get up an hour earlier than normal, start with as little as ten minutes and build from there!

Improve Your Diet and Exercise More

This might be one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions, but there is a good reason for that: just about everyone could benefit from taking better care of themselves!

Set aside some time each week for meal planning and get yourself on a schedule that has you visiting the gym a few times each week and you won’t believe the long-term impact your new health will have on the bottom line of your business!

Stop Procrastinating

It’s simple human nature to put off things that we don’t really want to do for as long as we possibly can. But getting those things off of your to-do list sooner rather than later will not only be beneficial to your business, but also to your personal stress levels.

In the classic book Getting Things Done, author David Allen recommends immediately completing any task that takes less than five minutes. Cutting these simple tasks out of your hectic work life quickly will really make a big difference over the course of a year!

Commit to Learning

In order to improve your real estate business, you have to first improve yourself. That means that committing to some type of continuing education can be a great way to dedicate yourself to growing your business this year.

This could mean anything from enrolling in a marketing class at your local community college to reading a motivational book on your Kindle rather than binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy reruns on Netflix.

Attend More Networking Events

Another great way to improve your real estate business in 2017 is to get out and meet people who could become clients or partners down the road. Commit yourself to active participation in organizations like your local chamber of commerce and you will be amazed at how the connections you make at networking events pay dividends for years to come.

While New Year’s Resolutions often get a bad reputation from the people who aren’t able to stick to them, the people who do stay committed will tell you that those resolutions can be a powerful motivator for creating all kinds of positive changes in your life. If you are looking to improve your real estate business in the coming year, pick one of these great examples and get to work!
