This is the time of year where you really want to make the most of your beautiful outdoor spaces. You want to have your friends and family over for cookouts and holiday events…and you want them to be impressed with what you’ve done with the place!
One of the most impressive things you can do for your big parties and get-togethers is to have a fire for everyone to gather around once the sun goes down.
In the old days, a simple backyard bonfire would suffice. But unfortunately, those types of fires aren’t very safe and might not even be legal in your community. However, there are plenty of great options that you can use to introduce a few flames into your outdoor space.
One of the easiest ways to get everyone to gather around one place is to have a fire bowl ready to go in the middle of your yard or patio. These bowls are generally built for smaller fires, but can be plenty large enough for marshmallow roasting and ghost stories!
You can pick up a great looking fire bowl at your local home improvement store for anywhere from under $100 to a few hundred dollars. If you already have a great patio space that needs a focal point, this is the way to go!
If you are creating a new outdoor space from scratch, you have plenty of options for including a more involved outdoor fireplace into the space. This is the next level of cool!
Many of these types of fireplaces can either burn real wood or run on gas, and they can cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on how sophisticated you want to get.
For people who are big fans of tropical places, tiki torches are almost always a good option to introduce a little fire into their outdoor spaces. With just a few well-placed tiki torches, you will feel like you are right in the middle of a tribal council meeting on an episode of Survivor.
You can get tiki torches at pretty much any home improvement store for a very minimal cost, but if you are looking to up the “wow factor,” you might want to look into getting ones that can be remote controlled.
Seriously…they actually exist!
It can be easy to get lost in the wow factors of big outdoor fireplaces and remote controlled tiki torches, but don’t forget how powerful a few great candles can be in any space.
If you are looking for bonus features, citronella candles will also help keep the bugs away.
The Ultimate Fire
As if things like outdoor fireplaces weren’t quite cool enough, you can also find an endless supply of completely over-the-top fire features built into all different types of backyards.
Some of the coolest ones involve the combination of fire and water either by placing fire bowls around pools or building fire features right into fountains and waterfalls.
There is no limit to the amount of ways that you can cleverly combine fire, water, and the rest of your outdoor space to creatively express yourself and completely wow your guests. Of course, there is also no limit to what these custom creations can cost either, so be careful!
Good luck with assembling your own fire features, and make sure to keep a fire extinguisher handy!
